Tickets are now available for the second version of TEDxSalford – a unique conference of ideas bringing together leading intellectuals, luminaries and performers under one roof, creating an environment that is intellectually stimulating for both presenters and participants. It will be held on the 21 October, 2012, Sunday.
This is a non for profit and voluntary student-lead initiative celebrating the best achievers and thinkers in the fields of science, technology, art, media and academia, giving an opportunity to the Salford community to learn, be inspired and network with passionate, like-minded people.
The project is licensed by TED and partnered with the University of Salford. TEDxSalford 2.0 will be the second TEDx experience held in the city – aiming to project a positive image of Salford to the world.
The event will take place in the iconic Lowry Theatre, a stunning 1000-capacity arts venue, next to MediaCity in Salford Quays. The day-long programme will be split into a morning and afternoon session, giving each speaker and performer an 18-minute session to inspire the attendees. The audience includes students from Salford and Manchester, professionals from MediaCityUK, and the rest of greater Manchester; as well as some TED enthusiasts coming from around UK to attend the event – altogether making a brilliant networking opportunity.
The first TEDxSalford event was held last year at Salford’s MediaCityUK, and attracted a student-centred audience which sold out, with a diverse line-up of speakers ranging from adventurers, to entrepreneurs, to broadcasters. Some of the speakers of the previous conference include Irene Khan, Chancellor of Salford; Ron Garan, NASA Astronaut; Dario Auterio, leading Physicist from CERN – to name a few.
TEDxSalford 2.0 is a slicker, larger, more ambitious project, with a much higher-capacity venue, a more expansive network of audience members and fans, and an even more exciting range of superstar speakers from abroad as well as from the local community. Due to the uniqueness, renown and diversity of speakers, TEDxSalford sets itself apart from other TEDx events in the country and is described by many attendees as an ‘inspirational and remarkable experience’ and the ‘ultimate brain spa’.
The event is within easy reach of public transport links to Salford and Manchester city centre – (detail transport links here) and will be held on Sunday, October 21st, 2012.
Tickets are on sale now to the general public, online at www.tedxsalford.com/event/registration – with discounted early bird tickets now selling quickly. Those who could not get the tickets last time will be pleased to know that the attendee limit is much higher this time and the tickets are less than half the usual price (and especially discounted for students!). They usually run out soon due to popular demand so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment.
