After MediaCityUK pilot BBC commissions The Guess List

Rob Brydon’s new Saturday night entertainment format won’t be filmed at MediaCityUK, despite a successful pilot in the summer.

The Guess List is to go into production, but it will be shot in London.

Each week 2 contestants will compete for a prize, which has been specially selected for them. They’ll be helped to win by 5 celebrities from sport, music, television or film.

“I loved making the pilot for The Guess List and can’t wait to get started on the first series,” said Brydon.

The 6×40 minute series was commissioned by BBC One controller, Charlotte Moore, Mark Linsey, controller entertainment commissioning and Alan Tyler, executive editor, entertainment commissioning.

It will be produced by the ITV Studios-owned indie, 12 Yard Productions.

“We are so excited to be working with a talent as big as Rob Brydon on this new Saturday night series. His hilarious interaction with the famous faces and members of the public takes the show to another level,” said Andy Culpin, managing director of 12 Yard.

It will air this Spring.
