The Big Performance will return to CBBC for a third series, with choirmaster, Gareth Malone challenging 6 children to write and perform a song for the centenary of the First World War.
The 6x30minute series has been produced by Twenty Twenty Television and will follow the children (aged 11-13) as they learn about the conflict and their own families’ role in the war.
“We are delighted that Gareth Malone is back on CBBC, inspiring a new group of children with this extraordinary songwriting challenge for the World War One anniversary. We hope that the series will encourage our young audience to trace their own family histories, and understand the importance of the international commemoration on 4 August,” said Melissa Hardinge, executive producer for MediaCityUK-based CBBC.
They will be helped along the way by Katy B, Pixie Lott, Conor Maynard, The Vamps and Eliza Doolittle.
While each child will write a song, just one of them will be chosen to perform at the finale in August.
